Just before the remains of hurricane Bertha arrived, a sunny Saturday allowed myself, Ian Cheeseborough and 10 course participants to enjoy 16 species on the wing! Running a dragonfly and damselfly course for the Field Studies Council we started at Berrington Pool and saw Common Blue, Red-eyed, Blue-tailed and Emerald damselflies, Banded Demoiselle, Ruddy and Common Darters, Brown, Southern and Migrant Hawkers and Four-spotted Chasers. (NB. Berrington Pool is privately owned and permission has to be gained for access to the pool). Richard Knisely- Marpole was on the course and has taken some fabulous pics below:

We then went up to Wildmoor Pool where we added Golden-ringed Dragonfly, Black Darter and Azure Damselfly to the list…
And then finally down to the Bog Pool on the Stiperstones where we added Emperor Dragonfly and Common Hawker -marvellous!
