Jan Shields has been enjoying good numbers of Common Blue, Large Red and Azure Damselflies at Snailbeach Reservoir…along side Broad-bodied Chasers. Jan’s photos clearly show how flattened the abdomen of the Broad-bodied Chaser is hence the species name Libellula depressa. The black patches of pigment can also be seen at the base of the wings which tell us this is a Chaser not a Skimmer which has clear wings.
