Mark Underwood has been monitoring the pools at Pole Cottage on the Longmynd and seen much ovipositing by Large Red Damselflies. On the whole this appeared to be going well, but closer inspection of the photographs below show a large and looming water boatman about to take it’s share!
Broad-bodied Chaser were also on the pools and the bottom 2 photographs show a male trying to grab a female – an extraordinary shot almost looking like the male standing on the female in flight!
