Paul Spear has sent in some great photos of the first Black Darters of our Shropshire summer. An immature male is seen here (left) with a diagnostic yellow splash pattern on the side of the thorax and a further emergent is pictured below. Paul also saw a Common Hawker emerging (below right)- the colours are very faint, but you can already clearly see the narrow yet prominent antehumeral stipes on top of the thorax.
