David Williams was out enjoying ‘clouds of bewildering blue damsels’ at Dudmaston on Saturday 14th. Amongst the Common Blues, Blue-tailed and Azures he took this great shot of Red-eyed Damselflies in cop at Seggy Pool.
Also in cop and later seen ovipositing were the first confirmed sightings of Black-tailed Skimmer.
At a distance the dragonflies are quite difficult to pick out, but when zoomed in the yellow costa and antenodal cross veins (also present in the Keeled Skimmer) stand out:
