Well my garden pond has mostly birds chasing around it who are sadly clearing up most of the emergent damselflies in the process! Warwick Davies is having more luck, after a slow start to the year around 10 Four-spotted Chasers emerged in this sunny weather (left and below left) and a fabulous Broad-bodied Chaser too (bottom right). The close up gives a great illustration of the enormous eyes in comparison to the very discreet antennae. In dragonflies the eyes take up most of the head and enable the insect to see in front, to the side and behind all at the same time!
