Close eye on Clubtails…

Jan Shields has been keeping a close eye on this female Common Clubtail seen on the River Severn at Frankwell. Now is the time to see this rare species often emerging below the fishing platforms that line the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury.

Jan has also been at Whixall Moss enjoying the White-faced Darters emerging and taking the lovely shots below.

Mousecroft Pool in Shrewsbury has also been frequented by Common Blue Damselfly, Red-eyed Damselfly and Large Red Damselfly- seen here close up on the far left. Banded Demoiselles (female near left) are also out on the rivers (and often seen around ponds) and like the Clubtails can been seen emerging on the River Severn in Shrewsbury as we speak…
