Common Clubtails were reportedly seen yesterday emerging from the River Severn in Shrewsbury and today Stephen Barlow has sent in this photo of an individual emerging. You can clearly see the old tracheal linings as the adult emerges from the exuviae. You can also see the clear separation between the eyes. Male and female Common Clubtails are the only dragonfly species in the UK to have clearly separated eyes. They are also a rare species so always worth sending in the record!
