Here in Shropshire we are lucky to have the Common Clubtail breeding on the River Severn. This photo of the male taken by D.Williams last year illustrates clearly why this species is so named. Catergorised as Near Threatened (GB Odonata Red List) surprisingly little is known about the exact location of our current breeding populations. One of our Shropshire recorders David Tompkins is planning to coordinate a survey this spring and all help is very gratefully received. Identification packs will be provided by the British Dragonfly Society so please don’t be put off if you are just starting out! Follow this link to find out more
