Keep an eye out for local rarities…

By June 1, 2017Blog

I had the chance to survey 2 private ponds near Shrewsbury yesterday and amid battling mighty mosquitoes I was lucky to see Variable Damselflies and Downy Emerald Dragonflies on the wing. There’s always a chance these species could be in other locations in the county so now is the time to┬ákeep an eye out (and particularly make sure your Azure Damselflies aren’t really Variables…). I’ve posted 2 of Jim Almonds fabulous shots of these species from last year. And I should also mention I finally saw my first Common Blue Damselflies for 2017.
