Jim Almond has sent in the photos of this years Downy Emerald at Mousecroft Pool. So far just a single male seen, but a stunning individual with a wonderful emerald coloration and downy thorax -even the Common Blue Damselfly looks impressed in the picture below!
Elsewhere it seems to be a fabulous year for good numbers of demoiselles. The River Severn in Shrewsbury is playing host to 100s at the moment and Martin Roberts has sent in a photograph which captures this beautifully….would also make a cracking jigsaw puzzle I reckon!
