An anonymous record for Southern Hawker 2nd June has come into iRecord via Birdtrack which unfortunately I have no way of verifying, but please do let me know if you definitely see this species on the wing.

Elsewhere Ivan Grove saw this Blue-tailed Damselfly f.violacea (left) at Wollerton Wetlands southwest of Market Drayton. This is an immature colour form of the female and really beautiful to see. Paul Thomas has also sent in some lovely photos from Brancepeth Pool on the slopes of Brown Clee Hill including a stunning inflight Four-spotted Chaser (below left) and a group of ovipositing Large Red Damselflies. The early Emerald Damselfly record on 30th May has now been confirmed so keep your eyes out for this species- our most significantly declining species in the UK.
