Stephen Barlow has sent in this fairly well camouflaged female Common Darter seen basking at Whixall Moss on October 26th. Stephen reported ‘moderate numbers’ of dragonflies still being present including Black Darters (below left) and Common Hawker. Just today I have also received a record of Southern Hawker seen on November 1st in Pontesbury. Conditions are still so mild it will be interesting to see how deep into November are dragonflies can fly…the record is November 25th…

If you have records for 2024 that haven’t been sent in then please do so by Christmas then I have a chance to sort through things and report back to you before the season starts again. Thankyou.
