Wow- amazing dragonfly weather and things have really picked up. I visited a number of private sites yesterday and was rewarded with great records of Downy Emeralds, Variable Damselflies, Emperor Dragonflies, 100s of Common Blue Damselflies and the first Black-tailed Skimmers of the season! My photography skills are well documented (lack of!) but I was lucky enough to be accompanied by Shropshire birder and photographer Jim Almond and I’ll post some of his pics soon. In the meantime if you’re out and about now is the time to spot some of our really special Shropshire species that only fly earlier in the season: Downy Emerald, Variable Damselfly and Common Clubtail.
