I’m always amazed how some species can emerge on mass at a similar time. On the same day Stephen Barlow was viewing Clubtails in Shrewsbury Paul Roughley was photographing emergents and exuviae much further upstream near Melverley (bottom right and far below left). I took the liberty of cropping Stephen Barlow’s photo (left and below left) as it illustrates beautifully the wings before they become extended by fluid filling the hollow wing veins.

Also on the River Severn in Shrewsbury the first Banded Demoiselles have been seen so definitely worth taking a look down by the river if you’re in town.
