Stephen Barlow has today confirmed White-faced Darter are flying on Whixall Moss. He saw 6 on 22nd April (female pictured left) which equals the earliest ever records in the UK…and don’t forget he’s fairly sure he saw one on 21st too but sadly it took flight before confirmation. I’m also pleased to announce spring has sprung in my pond in Shrewsbury with the first 2 Large Red Damselflies emerging today. Being naturally stealth like and light footed they both took their maiden flights as I approached with camera (!) – thank goodness we have some good photographers out there!
