Jan Shields was treated to no less than 15 Keeled Skimmers at Cramer Gutter last Friday. Lovely and surprising to see given how dry everything is becoming. Apparently they were all male and no females. Jan’s photo (left) really highlights the ochre pterostigma and the clear antehumeral stripes.
Jan also sent in a great photo of a male Golden-ringed Dragonfly with those striking green eyes coming together at a point. You can tell it is male from the waisted abdomen with a swollen tip and the lack of a long pointed ovipositor seen extending from the end of the female abdomen.
