Julian Livsey has sent in a great close up of Migrant Hawker seen near Pontesbury. This male has text book ‘reduced’ antehumeral stripes and a perfect yellow ‘golf tee’ shape on segment 2 of the abdomen. You can also just make out the upper of the 2 thick yellow stripes on the side of the thorax.

Below Geoff Hall has sent these close ups of Common Darter seen near Wistanstow -again somewhat reduced antehumeral stripes, a washed out red coloration and a definite yellow stripe extending down the black legs. The more distant of the 2 photos shows clearly the appearance of 2 stripes on the side of the thorax separated by the darker panel in between.
