Tom Lowe has visited Oss Mere just NE of Whitchurch and seen a good number of Small Red-eyed Damselflies. This delicate insect (left) has more striking bright red eyes and more blue extending in towards the centre from the ends of the abdomen than the similar Red-eyed Damselfly. Tom was also rewarded with Lesser Emperors on Oss Mere and nearby at The Mere, Ellesmere. He also visited Venus Pool and got a tantalising glimpse of a ‘very probable’ Lesser Emperor so if you’re recording at Venus Pool then please keep an eye out and keep me posted…
