After a record breaking April in 2025, this year has been comparatively very slow to get going, but finally a second species has emerged, Blue-tailed Damselfly. Tim Walter saw a male and a female at Pam’s Pools near Bridgnorth today (23rd April) and the female is pictured here with more than a hint of violet on the thorax. Females of this very common species come in 5 different colour forms so they’re a great species to try out your identification skills early in the year!
