It seems that once the Willow Emeralds arrive they don’t hang about. Laura and Kat Edwards-White have visited Lingcroft Pool near Plealey and seen at least 8 individuals including 2 pairs incop. This inspired Ron Kinrade to visit and send in this lovely photo of a male (left). The pool is next to a public footpath but not easy to view due to vegetation, but of course this vegetation overhanging the pool is very appealing to this species. Laura’s initial photo (below left) shows the long abdomen and the large light pterostigma of an individual on a bull rush. They were also seen on oak overhanging the water and unsurprisingly willows. Keep an eye out this autumn at any sites with overhanging vegetation and please keep me posted…
