Just spent a lovely hour in the autumn sunshine at The Bog surrounded by good numbers of Common Darter and Black Darter as well as Brown, Migrant and Southern Hawker..and to my surprise Willow Emeralds! I’ve posted my woeful photograph as despite the tiny subject it does show you what they frequently do which is to hang off the end of the branch -this is how I’ve spotted most of them to date. I saw 7 in total including a mating pair and an ovipositing pair. I was amazed to see them up at this location, but they really do seem to be turning up in a quite a few places so keep a look out…
