Stephen Barlow has sent in the first record for this year of Emerald Damselfly (below left) seen at Whixall Moss. This is a female with a stockier body than the male, no blue pruinescens and definitely no ‘bulge’ present under abdominal segment 2.
Elsewhere at Attingham Park Jake Dudderidge has seen the first teneral Ruddy Darters (left). This is again a female and despite looking very like a female Common Darter the legs are solid black (not striped with yellow) and on top of the thorax is a very definite black T shape (not fairly faint antehumeral stripes).
