Philip Bradley has sent in this beautiful tranquil scene of a female Emperor ovipositing near Pontesbury. If you look carefully at the lower left wing however you’ll see the signs of wear and tear as this hot weather can lead to too much frantic attention from males.
Elsewhere Stephen Barlow has sent in 2 more lovely photos of Norfolk Hawker seen at Whixall Moss- reporting at least 3 were present! I have no idea how anyone can survive the moss in these temperatures. Please do take care over the next few days -there’s no pressure to record anything – just stay in the shade!
