Stephen Barlow has sent in this stunning inflight photo of Lesser Emperor seen just north of the Shropshire border at Marbury Big Mere last Friday. John Roberts the Cheshire County Dragonfly Recorder informs me that Lesser Emperors have been seen at 5 sites across Cheshire so do keep an eye out for drab looking Emperors with just a blue saddle and green eyes.
Elsewhere, Paul Roughley has sent in this photo of a male Small Red-eyed Damselfly seen again just over the border in Montgomeryshire…another species yet to be recorded in Shropshire in 2026…
