Friday 16th May saw the emergence of 3 more species. Jan Shields saw White-legged Damselfly (female left) on the River Severn at Frankwell and Red-eyed Damselflies were seen near Berrington and by myself in Pontesbury -all loitering on lily pads as they do! Geoff Hall also discovered this Emperor exuviae (below left) at Brokenstones just north of Wistanstow. Other species are maturing nicely in all this fine weather and decent numbers of individuals can now be seen at lower ponds. Geoff also sent in some lovely phots of mature chasers at Brokenstones – a Four-spotted Chaser (below right) and a male and female Broad-bodied Chaser (far below left and right).
Ron Kinrade has seen more chasers emerge from his pond at Hemford, this time a Four-spotted Chaser and the exuviae collected afterwards (bottom left and right).
