Catherton Common in full swing!

By July 7, 2014Blog

Gary Palmer and Rob Stokes both report visiting this area recently, Gary recording a good number of male and female Keeled Skimmers and pairs in cop. Gary’s photo below clearly shows the antehumeral stripes on the top of the male’s thorax and the distinctive ochre pterostigma or wing spot.

Golden-ringed Dragonflies were also seen and Rob Stokes finally got a photo of a male after much patient waiting- excellent!

Rob was also lucky enough to see a stationary Brown Hawker near Bridgnorth- this male showing opaque brown eyes and glassy wings- both features typical of immature specimens.
