Large Red Damselflies emerging in Oswestry

By April 29, 2014Blog

It seems like Monday the 28th April was definitely launch day for Shropshire’s dragonflies. Thanks to Warwick Davies keeping a close eye on his garden pond near Oswestry we have sightings of 2 teneral Large Red Damsels and 4 of the exuviae also seen. These shed exoskeletons from the last larval stage are really important records as they prove Warwick’s pond is a successful breeding habitat for these species which will have been living and growing in the pond for 2 years – great news!
