Brown Hawker on the wing…

The first 2022 Brown Hawker record has come in from Shrewsbury where the dragonfly spent a good 30min hawking up and down a garden occasionally pausing to eat it’s insect prey.

Elsewhere a couple of lovely photos have been taken at Whixall Moss. Geoff Hall pictured this Four-spotted Chaser in flight across the moss and on the same day Bob Pugh took this beautiful photo of a solitary Emerald Damselfly (below). This is a fairly widespread species, but is sadly showing recent declines according to the recent State of Dragonflies Report so is worth keeping an eye on…
