Some of you are heading to the River Severn in Shrewsbury in search of Clubtails and also finding good numbers of Banded Demoiselles. Jan Shields has sent in this male (left) illustrating the dark band on the wing, and Stephen Barlow photographed a female (below right). If you are near faster gravelly streams you may see Beautiful Demoiselle. Geoff Hall has sent in a photo of this male seen at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre (below left) showing the fully pigmented wing as opposed to just a band. Both species of Demoiselle will treat you to a stunning ‘fluttery’ flight display.
