Winging around Whixall…

By August 19, 2016Blog

Stephen Barlow has been keeping an eye on Whixall Moss observing numerous Black Darters and Common Hawkers, Common Darter (photo left), Brown Hawker and a solitary Emperor. Interestingly only a few damselflies were spotted and I’ve certainly noticed their absence at a number of sites in the latter part of this flight season. Stephen’s photos below capture a few typical busy moments of life as a Common Hawker…

…and Andrew Williams photos capture the latter part of a female Common Hawkers life. Taken on a dragonfly course in Cheshire, but an amazing and unusual image.
