Red eyes on pink flowers…

Debbie Simpson has sent in this lovely photo of Red-eyed Damselflies (and a Common Blue lurking below) seen on Amphibious Bistort in Coalport. The differences between the male and female are clear, not least the definite red eyes of the male, far more pronounced than in the female.

Elsewhere Jim Almond has seen the first teneral female Black-tailed Skimmers at Venus Pool and ‘a Darter’ so there should be more species to add to the list soon…
