More early Common Darters enjoying the sunshine

Kain Prestwood has recorded more female Common Darters at Eardington NR on 22nd June amongst numerous Common Blue Damselflies and a number of Four-spotted Chasers.

This photo shows a fully intact specimen at the start of it’s adult life…..in stark contrast to the photo below showing a very tattered Four-spotted Chaser -clearly at the other end of the spectrum!
 
 
I also wanted to mention Gary Price’s record of Emperor Dragonfly near Snailbeach this weekend -not least because he managed to get a photo which is something I have yet to manage with this (and indeed many!) species.
