…and many of you are sending in some great records and photos thank you! Paul Thomas has sent in this truly stunning photo of a Common Darter seen at pools near Cleestanton along with the beautiful Brown Hawker below right. He also captured this Common Hawker (below left) in flight at Boyne Water which is no mean feat given it’s relentless flight!
Geoff Hall has also sent in a great photo of Ruddy Darter (far below left) which clearly shows the diagnostic black T on top of the thorax as well as the solid black legs and the black frons side line on the face area. Geoff also sent a lovely photo of Emerald Damselfly (far below right). The mature males are always a joy to see with bright blue eyes and the powdery blue pruinescence. This is the most significantly declining species in the UK so all sightings are really important and please do send them in.
And lastly a record has come in of Migrant Hawker on iRecord seen at Eardington Nature Reserve. Sadly I cannot use the photo as it came in via iNaturalist so send one in if you get one…
