Golden-ringed Dragonfly has been photographed on June 2nd near The Lawley. Sadly this was reported via iNat where the default licensing means I cannot use the photo and I cannot contact the recorder….so if you’re reading this and it’s you please change your default licensing and get in touch. In the meantime I’ve posted Jan Shields photo from previous years as a tempter to look out for this fabulous insect. Golden-ringed is a species we’re particularly interested in for the Stepping Stones Project so all and any sightings are very important to us.
Elsewhere the Southern Hawkers are really starting to emerge; this photo captured by Jan Shields in her garden pond and other records coming in from Preston Montford. Emperors are also putting on a good show, Stephen Barlow seeing 3 recently at Whixall Moss and one of the males photographed beautifully here (below right).
