It’s great to have so many photos of exuviae coming in and it’s these photos that give us absolute proof Brown Hawker and Southern Hawker are on the wing in Shropshire…though probably sheltering from the downpour as I write! Peter Roberts has found 5 Southern Hawker exuviae (left) on his garden pond in Woore and Yvonne in Crosshouses has found Brown Hawker exuviae (right and left below). If you find exuviae like this on your garden pond you’ll need to look at the shape of the mask on the underside- long and slender in Southern, and far broader as seen below in Brown Hawker.
