A taste of sunshine has allowed 2 more species to emerge. Stephen Barlow saw this teneral male White-legged Damselfly on Marl Allotment at Whixall Moss, presumably having emerged from the nearby canal and now sheltering in the vegetation. This species is always very ‘stripey’ in appearance and if you look closely you can see some of the flattened tibiae diagnostic of White-legged Damselfly.
Elsewhere Jim Almond reports 2 female Common Blue Damselflies on the wing at Venus Pool just south east of Shrewsbury. Fingers crossed for lots of winged activity in the Bank Holiday sunshine!
